I'm sure you've heard of her, the girl who was dating Tom Felton, the girl who played Pansy Parkinson in The Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone. Well, she did wasn't in the movie and this is what she said on the Tom Felton Boards:
This is exactly what I think of the whole predicament. I know playing into the rumour wasn't the wisest of actions, but who honestly wouldn't be at least tempted to do the same? I was emotional, upset and vengeful when I started - I'd just read a comment where someone had said something very unkind about my weight. I never made fansites or started rumours about myself (who the Hell would?!), but whenever I tried to explain to people what had really happened they would snort and say "Yeah, right." I hoped that by doing this people would learn that there was a girl behind the rumour, but of course no one could get to know me while I was hiding behind the rumour that started it all - the bloody rumour that I have a role in HP.
I suppose this will be one of those things that I look back at in 20 years and giggle at, and say what a stupid kid I was. Still, I don't think I'll be able to forget how I learnt how dangerous the Internet and the media can be and how cruel strangers often are. Bullying in the schoolyard (something I've experienced plenty of) is a completely different thing to bullying by people you've never met. Everyone knows how vulnerable your self-esteem is at this age, and having people say how ugly you are doesn't exactly do miracles for it. It's true about people being nasty to me in the street - I even had a 6-year-old boy kick me in the shins. I won't even begin to describe the emails I've recieved. Want to know the ironic thing? My mother once said it was half my fault for having a personal website on the Net. As if I knew something like this could happn!
I am indeed angry at Warner Brothers for not fixing this up. They would have brilliant media monitors, and Chris Rankin once said I've even been mentioned on set before and that publicity would surely know. Thus, they cannot credibly claim to have been oblivious to the matter. I guess WB don't care what happens to me, as long as I keep on going to the cinema to see the films they churn out. Typical.
However, I shouldn't need to apologise to anyone. Not really. I'm not the true villain in this case - the villains are the people who made my last few years Hell. I just hope this doesn't affect my acting career in the future, or I'll see to it that someone is very dead indeed.

This entry explains practically everything, but I am still confused. What was your part in this whole predicament Chris?
and no, before someone is ready to flame or something, i do not hate Katharine or anything like that, i just want to know what exactly happened.

I think what she's saying is that she was cast, possibly filmed, but you never see her in the movie.

Well, having no idea what this is about myself.. part of me thinks that the poor girl has been through enough and doesn't need it spread around anymore perhaps. I've been bullied all my life and it was tough.. but I can't imagine how bad she must have been hackelled for whatever this is about.
From what I've read.. it sounds like she was the victim to a nasty trick played by the media and she's been pulled into some nasty vicious circle where she's received threats through her being in the HP movie. Which she wasn't. But I guess understandably she got upset and hurt.. she's just a kid afterall and then pretended that she WAS in the movie whe she wasn't.
I feel bad for her. She's been through hell. And it wasn't her fault, she didn't start it in the first place.
That's just my 2 cents, I know this thread was directed at Chris but I'd feel terrible if I hadn't done my bit to protect her a little.

ok - I'll try and explain a bit better....
AAAGES ago (i mean we're talking two years) when there was the original outcry about JK not allowing anyone from outside the UK to be cast in the film, the press suddenly found that "katharine nicholson, 13, from Australia" had been cast in a principal role". This isn't true. Katharine Nicholson (correct me if I'm wrong) is a girl, 13, from Australia, who happens to be used for various child-like roles in plays, films and TV in Australia. The press thought it would be fun to tell the world that she'd been cast as Pansy Parkinson, to get the public blood going.
Since then, half the world's been convinced that she's in the film.
She's not, she never was and probably never will be.
I've spoken to her on MSN a couple of times, which is where I come into this thing, and we've talked about the fact that the cast know about her, and that nothing's ever been done to correct the situation. (probably because Warner Bros don't see it as important enough to stamp on such a small problem).
That's about the jist of it...

Have you given any interviews since then?
I mean, you did hear the rumours of you having a girlfriend, and denied them...
Will you give any interviews in the future?

I'm a regular at TFB (Tom Felton Message Boards) and she was a person who was liked by some, adored by many and disliked by many too. But at TFB, she wasn't liked mainly just because she's got a bit of an attitude and people take it offensively. I never really cared for her in the beginning just because the first time I ever posted something talking to her, she was kind of mean in the response. She's a smart alec and she doesn't make exceptions for it. Well, we get along now and I apologized to her and wished her well.
She's been through a lot, what with the whole "getting beaten up" by a mob of girls...never happend and getting hate mails...does happen. That's what I'm said about. I'm sad that she got those just because she "went out with Tom Felton"...which she didn't, but anyways.
Yeah..it was this HUUUUUUUGE thing at TFB. Got blown out of proportion there just because most of us were friends with her (and some were just because she could give his sn to them, which she couldnt) and it really caught us all off guard.
I feel for her and I wish her well.

That sucks that so many people verbally (and physically, stupid 6 year old) attacked her, but I'm really confused as to why. It's not like she was playing Hermione. Is Pansy even mentioned in the first book? I read it once long ago, and I've seen the movie 15 times, and I don't think there was ever an opportunity for her to appear. Oh well. I do think it's amusing that she's dating Tom, since Pansy and Draco go to the Yule Ball in book 4. Maybe Rupert and Emma will go out someday.

Yes, she is.
First, she is so close before Potter that she gets a mention when Sorted.
Second is the first Flying lesson. She makes the comment that she never expected Parvati to like little fat crybabies.

How was the flying lesson in the movie?

Um, no, it was a rumour.
Gemma Padley is also reported to date Chris.
