The Hollywoodized version of Homer's Illiad is about to hit, and it's got names everyone will know....Brad Pitt, Sean Bean *cough* orlando's bloomers
But aside from the names, I'm a history buff and i'm interested in seeing how close the movie is to the book....so i'll have to quick read the book, lol.

It looks really interesting, and being in love with Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom helps. I saw a preview of it on MTV news earlier and it looked awesome, that one shot of all of the boats in the sea... it was pretty intense, very cool. Can't wait

I don't think they should include eye candy in historical films.
Like, in Henry VIII the other week, i'm sure Robert Aske was not as good looking as Sean Bean... and i bet Guinevere didn't look as gorgeous as Keira Knightly does, if she existed, that is...
It's just trying to attract a different type of audience, most of whom don't give a damn about the plot, unlike Guyermo, they just want to see Bloom, Bean, Pitt etc,.

Hmmm, didn't even know they were making it.
Should be interesting either way....

i can't wait to see it! i'm not a big fan of brad pitt/orlando bloom etc. (although i do like sean bean). I do A-level Latin so i know all about Troy and the classical books! (i had to translate them so i remember them very well!)
the reason why i can't wait to see it is that i can't wait to pick at it and point out everything thats innacurate! hehe!
I'm hoping it's good though cos i love anything to do with Troy!

I might see this. I can't stand Orlando or Brad, but I'm definitely a Bean fan. Like most movies, I will only see it if it comes to the theatre in this part of the city (can't be bothered to take the bus), or I'll rent it when it comes out on video.

i didn't like brad pitt until i saw Se7en, and you have to admit he was quite good in fight club. orlando bloom hasn't exactly impressed me with his acting talents yet, but he's only done strict action roles. I love the history, and since i have Age of Empires for my computer, i'll get to see the hoplites and trojans in semi-real life as opposed to heavily pixilated images on my computer screen.
