Everything about Book 7

Postby Scott on Sun Jun 10, 2007 1:46 pm

Use this as your dumping ground for Book 7 thoughts now that we're just over a month away This way we don't clutter up the nice, new forums with multiple different topics about this book.

For instance, the new U.S. deluxe cover with the trio riding a dragon. I like to think this dragon is Norbert.

So, what's on your mind about Book 7 and, once you've read it, what's your reaction?

Talk away and make Alby insane!

Yeah I saw the US deluxe ed. and thought "wow". That would be cool if it was Norbert, tying that in from the first book. I'm so bad with theories. However this idea popped in my head last night while trying to sleep:

I don't think Snape is evil only for this reason (because God knows I want to hate him):

The titles of the book. They are all objects or people that are used or percieved as evil are never themselves actually evil.

The Sorcerer's Stone: Object for good intentions, the stone itself is not evil only wanted for evil doings.
The Chamber of Secrets: An open chamber used to harbor evil, but the chamber itself can't be evil being in Hogwarts.
The Prisoner of Azkaban: Obviously everyone thinks Sirius is evil when he's not.
The Goblet of Fire: What is representative of the (relatively) harmless game, is used by Voldy as a portkey, but again the object itself not evil.
The Order of the Phoenix: The ministry wishes to say those with Dumbledore are trying to bring the ministry down, but they're in fact the good ones.

Whick brings me to HBP...Snape must be good and only appears to be on the wrong side.....

I dunno, I may be totally wrong, but that's just what hit me last night. :|

actually that's not a bad theory. You might want to put that somewhere on the TLC forums (i don't know which location would be best).

I'm honestly not sure about snape, so I'm not making a choice one way or the other. I'll leave it up to Jo to tell me which he is. I can wait a month.

I am absolutely dreading the day that I get DH spoilers, so the second I get my hands on a copy of the book, I am unplugging the internet.
As for Snape, I don't jump on the good or bad bandwagon, I think that in the end of all things, he's just out for himself and what is the best for him. If that means he got a comfortable lifestyle while everyone else was being locked up for being a Death Eater, that's great. If it means not being hunted down for deserting the Death Eaters, that's good too. I haven't seen anything from Snape that shows he's much of a passionate fellow toward any sort of cause. In the first uprising of the Death Eaters, I think he joined because it would have marked him as being safe from their attacks, especially if the Order were on the losing side of things, and especially because he's a half blood.

Snape? I think we all believe he's bad--but he's truly good..and we'll find out to what extent in this book (obviously, couldn't find out any other way, right?). I actually think he'll end up doing something completely out of character in redeeming himself--saving Harry is most probable.

What do you all think about Dumbledore? Is he really...dead? :o

An acquaintance from a book club put it perfectly:

"Snape isn't a good person, but he's on the good side."

And... I think he will die (*sniffle*) but it will be a death that will force Harry to realise that while Snape was a jerkhead, he was on the good side.

And I have no idea what will happen now. Spoilers are something that I do NOT want to read/see/hear!

What's funny is that any other book, I was all for spoilers. But this time I'm seriously hoping no one gets an early copy. If I hear any true spoilers I'm going to flip out. Seriously.

I'm getting the book, going home, shutting myself in, and making a VERY large pot of coffee. And only leaving my room for more coffee or bathroom breaks, hahaha.

Oh yes. If I hear anything about Harry living or dying before I reach the part where he actually does, I am going to go absolutely ape and possibly take a limb off of the person who said it.
So, from the release, it's going to be straight home, into my room with the lad with food, a heater, lots of pillows and tea. and I will not sleep until it is finished. And then I will emerge blinking into the real world and possibly dissapointed or very sad, depending on who dies.
And this time, Laurie won't be reading ahead during the night and then telling me that's it's really sad what happens in the end of book 6.
