ChrisRankin this'll sound really sad - but I take a teddy bear that my girlfriend gave me for christmas - it's my lucky mascot :) apart from that - my mobile phone too!

JenniferDM Since you are beloved be all of us here-AddiDMasks: if he hadn't gotten signed for Harry Potter, what would he be doing instead of the films?
ChrisRankin i'd probably have spent ALOT more time at college, and probably done alot better in my exams. That and going to University in September. Instead I spend alot of time running around the country!

ChrisRankin well. there's quite a list! but at the top of list is a guy called John Cameron Mitchell - who is an amazing director/actor/writer/singer. I'd also love to work with Sam Mendes from a directorial point of view and Kevin Spacey - because he's an amazing guy!
AgathonDM Ian asks, Did you enjoy working with Chris Columbus, and what are your thoughts about having to work with Alfonso Cuaron in the third movie?
ChrisRankin Working with Chris is great - he never has a bad word for anyone! at the end of a take it's always "that was great, now let's try it like this". I've not seen much of Alfonso's work - but I'm assured that he's a really nice man. It'll be good to work with someone else who has a different way of working too :)

ChrisRankin it's great :) mostly because there's so many of us - we all get on like one big family :) having brothers and sisters like Rupert, the twins and bonnie is fantastic - not to mention parents like Julie Walters and Mark Williams

ChrisRankin yeah - it a laff a minute on set - especially with Julie and Mark improvising lines
ChrisRankin i think a lot of my food from the breakfast at the weasley's flew across the room from bizarre adlibs!

ChrisRankin in a way i hope he does - after moving to the dark side first! I'd love to do a big death scene AND play a bad guy!
AgathonDM ReZz ponders: Do you think that Percy will go to the Dark Side after Voldemort returned, because I thik he is powerhungry, just like Lord Voldemort?

ChrisRankin well yes - and he is very ambitious - he'd do anything to get power (in my opinion)

ChrisRankin not really - I value my life *grin* - but there have been a few plots - usually started by actors who should know better!

ChrisRankin my dream is to play a baddie in a James Bond film. I love action movies

JenniferDM PercyLover asks: Did Chris Rankin originally try-out for Percy..... or did he try out for another part?
ChrisRankin i originally went for Percy - because I'm ginger and the right age - but apparently Sean Biggerstaff had got the part and then they changed him to Oliver Wood after i had auditioned. A scottish Percy could have been interesting!
NoelDM HeathMuse makes a large assumption, then asks a good question... I know you aren't snotty in real life, but is it fun playing a snotty person like Percy?
ChrisRankin it is great fun - because you get to be quite over-the-top with parts
ChrisRankin and i've got a personal theory that Percy's a very OTT person - so it's fun to do his snotty stuff!

ChrisRankin yes and no! I don't believe that mumbling strange words will make the end of your wand light up - but i think there are some kinds of magic that are real - in less obvious ways

JenniferDM Since you're filming for months at a time-Katie_Bell asks- Have you grown close to any one of your costars?
ChrisRankin do i see a sneeky bit of gossip mongering going on here!!! *wink*. We all get on really well on set - and I spend most of the time when we're not filming talking to Sean and Gemma (who plays penelope) because they're nearer my age - and we all have alot in common. But as a cast and crew we're all really close anyways
NoelDM That's great chris! Constant Compatriot is a bit disappointed by the sound of things... Why did the filmmakers decide to not have Percy wear the horn-rim glasses to which the author so pointedly refers to throughout the books to date?
ChrisRankin i'm not sure....... sorry! i did ask this once and no one could really find an answer. But I'm sure that if Percy's glasses held some kind of importance in the plot line - they wouldn't have been missed out of the movie. I also wasn't too keen about looking like Dame Edna!

AgathonDM To be honest - I totally forgot about the glasses! ;) imhugable21 wonders: How does it feel to watch yourself on the BIG screen?
ChrisRankin I don't mind seeing myself - I have to look in the mirror everyday - so I've kinda got used to jumping! it's hearing my voice that really freaks me out. I personally don't think i sound anything like that in real life! (I hope i don't anyways!)
JenniferDM We had a ghostly member of the cast with us yesterday- Jon wonders- Did you ever have to film in front of the blue screen?
ChrisRankin sadly no - the nearest i got to special effects was talking to a green ping pong ball on a stick that magically turned into John Cleese! That and Walking through walls!
NoelDM Ghosts? Good gryffindor, I'm scared! Meanwhile, Dark Angle 515 would love to know if your family are comparable to the Weasley's in any way? (Well I KNOW your mum fusses over you ;-) apart from that though!)
ChrisRankin lol! well I'm an only child - so in that respect not at all, but my nanny (bless her) knits 24/7 - and my mum fusses ALOT - so in a way - yes
AgathonDM Hannah asks quite a humourous question: If you could dye your hair any colour, what colour would you choose and why?
ChrisRankin I'm perfectly happy with the colour it is! I had to shave it and dye it black for a show once - and i looked like a criminal - so won't be doing that again! no - i like it ginger

ChrisRankin people at my old high school call me "Percy" because they're silly! they also call me Jesus - because I played Jesus in a production of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar a couple of years ago.
NoelDM Dracofan711 tentatively asks: Did you always want to be an actor? Or did it just pop up like things in life...ugh, tend to do.

ChrisRankin I joined my local youth theatre (DOSYTCo) in 1995 and have enjoyed acting ever since then - but doing it as a career was always just a nice though - i never thought i'd be doing it so soon!
AgathonDM hagrid wants to know: what would be your favourite and least favourite Bertie Botts every Flavour Bean and why?
ChrisRankin umm - a carrot cake icing flavoured bean would be my favourite and i think an ant flavoured one would be my worst! (I'm having a bit of a thing about ants at the moment....humour me!)

ChrisRankin well - if you go to http://chrisrankin.com - they've got my agent's details, and a fan mail form - which does get sent to me.
NoelDM Fred Weasly asks with a tone of envy: After the movies, are you now treated differently at school, and how so?
ChrisRankin well - the headteacher seems to think I'm some kind of advert - and expliots me at every turn! but the kids - in general are great about it, very supportive.

ChrisRankin aah - now there's question I'm not really allowed to answer - but I'll just say that we did it many times. Some with a wall and some without... and there were alot of near misses!

ChrisRankin smocking..... well it started as a private joke between me and Lynn (who runs chrisrankin.com) because if you google search for Chris Rankin, you get me and a lady from Australia who writes books about embroidery - one book of which is called "creative Smocking by Chris Rankin" i have a copy somewhere.....

JenniferDM ok- Jennifer (aka. ME!:)) wants to know- What advice do you have for actors that want to be in the movie biz?
ChrisRankin be prepared to be VERY tired and to not see any of your nearest or dearest for long stretches of time. It's great fun - but you can work up to 13 hours a day if you're over 18 - so just make sure it's what you really want. And also be prepared for rejection, and lots of it. Don't expect work to pile in by the hour. But most importantly enjoy it!

NoelDM ElizabethJ is simply dying to know - Have you read the books, and if so, which is your favourite?
ChrisRankin I've read all the books - and book two is my favourite, although I'm not too sure why....

ChrisRankin i haven't seen any of the film yet - but from being there it looks to be much better than the first film. maybe because the characters are more advanced now, but we'll have to see how the audience takes it!

ChrisRankin i'm not a PATCH on Noel! but in the concert I'm working on at the moment, I get to sing three love duets with three different ladies! (one of which i think has just appeared on the chat rooms!)

ChrisRankin i have no desire to become some kind of teen idol (like that'd happen) i'd be happy with any work at this stage in my career, but good scripts would always go down well

AgathonDM Starfly asks: Do you find film or theatre harder to do?
ChrisRankin i'm not sure..... they're both difficult in their own seperate ways. with film, you have to be prepared to change EVERYTHING at a moment's notice, where as with theatre you have to concentrate 110% of the time, and be totally aware of what's going. I much prefer live performance, because of it's unpredictability.

ChrisRankin not much. I try to keep a low profile, unlike other people I've come across on my travels. but i did get recognised at a theme park the other week, which my girlfriend found HIGHLY amusing! but around town, most people roll their eyes and go "oh it's him again"

ChrisRankin when i'm not acting for money (or other such bribes) i'm usually acting with my youth theatre (summer concert august 23rd and 24th) e-mail me for details! or out at the cinema with my friends, or at home online. I often travel over to see my girlfriend - who lives on the other side of the country.

NoelDM Harry Potter Rocks asks how many hours a day did you have to work during filming?
ChrisRankin it varies, but because I'm over 18 - there's not such a cut-off point - so I was sometimes at the studios for 12/13 hours
