morning campers!
well what a week!!!
The book release was an amazing event!!! The Forum sold out- we had just over 600 people there (apparently the biggest release party in the UK!!!)
I had three hours sleep on Saturday morning, from 3.30 til 6.30 before heading off to East London for the first event there... which was ok... not many people turned out, but a guy from Movie Star magazine (a japanese publication) came and took pictures, which means more publicity for me *grin*! Then we set off to Wexham children's hospital, which was really humbling, it was very moving to see these lovely kids getting so much joy out of meeting me. Apparently not many people go to visit hospitals, which i think is appauling... Then we went to Methven's bookshop in Windsor, which was AMAZING!!! there was a line of people out of the door and down the street when we got there (we got lost, so were half an hour late), but had such a great time!!! (thanks to Fraiser and all there) I read parts from Book 5, we had a fancy dress competition, and did some Q&A stuff before heading off to St Albans for the same sort of thing again!!! we left St Albans at 9pm that night.... and very tired, but very happy!!!
It was lovely to meet lots of harry potter fans and talk to them about the new book and the film. It's always fun talking to the kids who know the books and the films inside out and back to front! There was a girl in St Albans who recited the whole spider scene from CoS with the voices and all the words... it was incredible!!!
anyways, that was Friday and Saturday - a whole week ago!!!
since then, I've been down to Leavesden Studios for a haircut.. that was on Wednesday, which was good.... nice to go back down and see people
On thursday i went to the BBC to record and interview for a webcast they are doing at 5.35pm gmt today (friday) on the newsround website www.bbc.co.uk/newsround
enjoy!!

has that length of time really gone by since i took my grade 6 violin exam?! Doesn't feel like it... my high school teacher and dear friend Ann was still alive, I was still in high school, i was even more of a nobody than i am now!
I have to say, the excitement for "Order of the Phoenix" only hit me today, as i've spent most of today in an office in Norwich sorting out things for the release party tomorrow night, with a box of Order of the Phoenix right next to me!!! (it was painful - i wasn't allowed to look!).
It's been a funny couple of weeks for me... things have been going from good to bad like see-saws, and thus i've spent most of it totally and utterly exhausted!! As much as i'm looking forward to the weekend's events, i'm also very much looking forward to just sitting down on sunday with a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket and my copy of Order of the Phoenix, taking the phone off the hook and reading
before heading off to the theatre to see Stephen Fry and Simon Callow being funny!
Last weekend was great! I went up to Durham to visit Em (our wonderful moderator and my best friend). It was a mad day getting up there though - as I had to go down to london in the morning to have some photos taken for the pantomime at christmas.... so it went something like this:
4.30am: get dragged out of bed by mum (who knows why she was up that early)
6.00am: leave house
7.55am: get train to london
8.45am: arrive london
9.55am: get to Producer's office in Ruislip
10.45am: leave producer's office
11.40am: arrive back in london
12pm: get train back to Norwich
1.45pm: arrive in Norwich
2.00pm: pick up Arnie (a friend) from her home
2.15pm: get back to my home and pick up stuff
2.30pm: get to Em's home to pick up her brother
2.50pm: set off for Durham
7.05pm: arrive in Durham
how's that?!
more later chickens
love
chris (who updates his diary on a regular basis *cough*)

Two quick links to articles about/involving Chris:
Percy Weasley in town for launch - about Chris' upcoming appearance at Methvens.
Norwich prepares for Pottermania - about Chris' upcoming appearance at Kulture Shock in Norwich.
Lynn's note: although the first article seems to think otherwise, Chris is NOT 20. He is 19. I have (exactly) seven months on him, and dangit, I'm not giving any of that up. So nyah.

well i'm back (ok so i've been back a couple of days - but i've been in bed for most of that!!)
New York's an amazing place as i think i've established on most topics in the forum!!!
Just thought i'd give you the low-down of what i actually DID when I was there....
Day 1: Arrived at JFK, some strange person walked up to my at the baggage re-claim, took a photo of me and walked away again without saying a word (just a tad on the bizarre side). Got a cab to the hotel (i stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, which wasn't quite as grand as i was expecting it to be.... although it was lovely). A note to anyone going to New York - always say goodbye to your loved ones, settle any outstanding debts and sign your Will before getting in a NYC taxi - they're terrifying - we took off a couple of times on the way to the hotel!! When i got to the hotel, i relaxed for a couple of hours and did the usual unpacking etc. Then went out at about 6pm to explore a little before going to see Gypsy. There's nothing like a good old fashioned musical to get you into the spirit of Broadway - and Gyspy certainly did the trick!!! Bernadette Peters was amazing - as usual, and even better, the production was directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty and Road to Perdition guy - one of favourite directors!!).
Second Day: Went walking... Did Macy's and then the Empire State Building - which I have to say was the most amazing experience of my life. I've been up the CN Tower in Toronto before, which was great, but NOTHING like the Empire State. The Manhattan skyline is beautiful from all angles, and from 89 floors up, it's even better!!
Walked back up 5th Avenue, which was fun - looked into lots of posh designer shops on the way back to the hotel. In the evening I went to see Al Pacino, Dianne Weiss and Marisa Tomei in Salome - which was incredible - Al Pacino played Herod like he was coming off some incredible trip!! I loved it! And did the fan-boy hanging around the stage door thing (not that i got much choice, cos they'd barriered it off before we'd left the theatre, so we all had to wait for Al Pacino and co to come out... that took and hour or so. Walking back through Times Square in the middle of the night's SO much nicer than walking through Leicester Square in the middle of the night - so much happier!!
Third Day: I did Bloomingdale's, Central Park and Museum Mile (without noting that the guggenheim is shut on thursdays *grumble*) I got lost in Central Park - kept managing to end up in the same place, which ever route i took. Bought lots of art work from the street stalls along the mile - they'll be going on the walls in my new house when I move later this year....
By the time i'd walked all the way up the mile, all the way back down it and round central park three times, i was a bit tired, so went back to the hotel for a meal. They do GREAT spag bol - shall remember that for next time i'm there
That night I went to see Baz Lurhman's production of La Boheme - which was like watching Moulin Rouge on stage - SO clever!! I hated the music, but that didn't matter, because it was so visually brilliant!!
Day Four: Friday was the best weather day of the trip (well the morning was!!) I got sunburnt a little bit, which hasn't happened for atleast two years!! Did the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island... have to say (and i'll probably lose most of my american fanbase in one foul swoop) that the Statue of Liberty was a bit of a let down... Somehow i was expecting it to be a little more impressive than it was. Maybe if you come at it from behind, it's not quite as imposing as it would be if you'd just arrived from some far flung world on a boat. But still, got some good pics of it which is what matters. On the way back uptown, I stopped off at Union Square and bought lots of DVDs at the Virgin Megastore there, before getting absolutely SOAKED while running up 7th Avenue back to the hotel. That night went to see Eddie Izzard and Victoria Hamilton in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg - which was possibly the theatrical highlight of the week. it's such an incredible play - if anyone has a chance to see it - ANYWHERE, go!!!
Saturday i spent just wandering really, don't think i did anything particular... there was a street fair type thing on 6th Avenue, so i spent most of the day on that buying more artwork and gifts, and having a massage for $10 - which was definately needed after the walking i'd done that week!!! went to see RENT in the evening, which was SO much better than the london production - they didn't cut any of it out, which was always good!! The people next to me left at the interval - bless them - they opened the programme and went "oh it's a MUSICAL!!" and then proceeded to tut everytime something rude was mentioned (Which let's face it is every other verse or so!!). Someone recognised me - which i found highly bizarre as I hadn't opened my mouth at all while i was at the theatre, so there's no way they'd have known i was british (unless i'm THAT obvious!!)...
and that was that!! Sunday was spent packing and worrying about how much over my baggage limit i would be (i went with one huge suitcase and came back with two huge suitcases and a smaller suitcase!!). Then at 3pm I got a taxi back to JFK and went home.
the end!!
