A Facelift!

March 29th, 2007 by Chris Rankin

Well well well! Here we are again! It hardly seems that long since the last update of the site, but I suppose time’s flying! I’ve been a busy boy too - Finished Cinderella in January, and straight away got on a plane to LA, where I spent 5 weeks. I’ve got a manager out there now, who is working wonders on my career, and we had a great time too - went to Vegas to see a concert, went out to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah for a film premiere, and made it up to Santa Barbara for sun and mexican food too!

Since I’ve been back I’ve been busy with meetings, auditions and all round excitement - so I can promise you some exciting news in the not too distant future - keep your eyes open!

Pantomime for Christmas 07 has just been finalised, so in the next few days we’ll tell you all about that!

Enjoy the new site guys, have a look around, and I look forward to seeing you back here soon :)

Wuthering Heights and the like

March 28th, 2006 by Chris Rankin

Hey guys, I must once again apologise for not updating this journal or a long long time…. so i’m going to cheat and fill it in from other journals i’ve been keeping…
BUT things are going well., the first week of Wuthering Heights is gone, we opened last week in Lincoln to very happy crowds who enjoyed the play very much - which is all we can ask for! WE’re on a week off now - which sounds very lazy - but i think we all needed it - it’s been an intense last couple of weeks! Anyways…. here we go….

MARCH 1ST

so i’m currently in Brighton staying with family friend and mad-lady Jilly, which is fun :> as you can see by the title of this post, it’s mostly about Wuthering Heights which started rehearsing on monday. it’s going really well, i had my first set of rehearsals yesterday and they went really well - Ian, the director, works like a train, just pounds through it at such a speed. We worked for about 4 and a half hours and i was exhausted when i got home. Today i’ve got to be there half hour early to do an interview over the phone with a newspaper, along with Michelle who is playing Cathy. The cast is lovely - there’s Michelle, Barney (Heathcliff), Harriet (Isabella), Katie (Nellie), Robert (Hndley), Tony (Joseph) and Ollie (Hareton). And they’re all great - i’m running late now - so better make a run for it - suffice to say we all get on really well and it’s going to be ok doing this show i think…..

MARCH 8th

well, i’m typing this from my bed at jilly’s house in brighton, suffering from a slight hangover and really can’t be bothered to get out of bed! I had a day off yesterday as did michelle, and she rang me late afternoon to suggest we went out for a drink in the evening which was good and to be honest, just what i needed! I met her at the train station and we got a taxi down to the pier, where i had it on good authority that there was a karaoke bar open 7 nights a week (not in the winter season it would seem!). So we met up with Patrick (stage manager) and went to a pub for a drink and then made our way to The Queens Arms where karaoke was also on… Well the fact we’re in brighton and the pub is called The Queens Arms should really have given it away! The pub was FULL of very young boys in tight white t-shirts and on stage singing some dreadful tune was a guy who must have been somewhere in his mid 50s in full drag…. we left very quickly in a fit of giggles, poor patrick looked like a fish out of water - it didn’t bother me or michelle, but poor patrick is very northern and very very in touch with his masculine side, and clearly didn’t fit into that scene at all!!
So we moved on to a place called the Candy Bar, which was the complete opposite of The Queens Arms, it was a “ladies bar”, as it was introduced to us by the girl with shaved head on the door…. Patrick and I (as men) were allowed to stay on the proviso that we behaved ourselves (which ofcourse, we did!) Patrick however, being a boring sod left before the karaoke started - but me and Michelle stayed and did a bit of singing, well, one song each… I did summer of 69, she did i’m so excited. twas a good and well deserved night out!

MARCH 23rd

so wuthering heights is coming to the end of it’s first week of shows…. it’s bizarre how quickly the lifestyle that comes with working in the evening has become the norm… i’ve not been to bed before 3 any morning in the last week, i think i’m living on CST at the moment!
The play seems to be going down quite well on the whole, although the audiences aren’t huge, they certainly seem to be enjoying it! which i suppose is the main thing and then news will spread and reviews will come out!

so there we go!

More soon i promise - we’re in Windsor next week - so no one in the London area has an excuse not to come!

Love

Um - hi!

September 26th, 2005 by Chris Rankin

Hellooo!
Yes, I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated here… I’m not sure what I’ve been doing - but I know I’ve been busy!! “Born For The Stars” went superbly well in the end we had so much fun, and everyone who saw it really enjoyed themselves (minxykat will vouch for the audience as she was there!! thanks for coming!). Since then, I’ve been around and about the country. The latest good news in my life is my lovely girlfriend Rosie - who is real (i say that because one of Rosie’s friends met an american girl in a club not that long ago who hovers around CRO and apparently I don’t have a girlfriend, because i’ve never mentioned her on here…!) But yes, Rosie - she’s lovely, and wonderful, and i’m sure you’ll hear more about her in the future.

ANYWAY - this isn’t a diary for me to make you vomit over my happiness - so i’ll move on!

I’m coming to Salem (with Rosie) next week 5th-9th October. I’m going to be involved in the haloween events there - more news to follow. Should be great fun though - and as i’m sure some of you will be aware this is the same time that The Witching Hour Symposium is on - this means that a lot of my fan world friends shall be up there - which is nice - it’ll be a nice catch up from my trip to the states last october!

Yes. So. That was a random update - i’m in a random mood.

Love etc

Hello!

September 11th, 2005 by Lynn

Hi guys, again, long time no post! I’ve been a wee bit busy lately - which can only be a good thing… let me see - where was i last time i updated this journal thing….? So - yes - i’ve filmed the comedy sketch I had just been hired for. It was amazing fun - i had a great time working with Sean Hardie, John Binkely and everyone at Production Tree. It was quite awesome to be working so closely with some of the countrie’s greatest writers, directors and producers of comedy on certainly the most relaxed set i’ve come across. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

In other news, the concert “Born For The Stars” is this Thursday - and progress is good! I’m looking forward to seeing some of you there (atleast one that i know of!!!) it’ll be a fun night that’s for sure!

Also, i hope you’re all liking the new-look CRO - muchos thanks to the ever-incredible Lynn for all her work, designs, staffing and such menial chores. Without her, this site wouldn’t exist, afterall!

ALSO (final also!) I’m sure most of you will have seen on the front page a plug for a book called “Charlie Watts and the Rip In Time” - please take a look at the website (which can be found on the links section of this site) and consider ordering a copy of this amazing book… I know a few people from here already have and i’m sure they’ll reccommend it!

I shall depart.

Love etc

The latest

August 29th, 2005 by Lynn

Hello everyone! I’ve just come back from my annual holiday with my wonderful friends on the isle of wight - although this year’s adventure was split in two as I had to come home last week and do a little bit of admin work for Memorabilia (which i shall be attending this coming weekend). I’ve had a few audition lately ad I’m still waiting to hear outcomes, so will keep you posted.

In the mean time - consider this… I’ve got a sponge front door - Hey - Don’t knock it.

WORK!

August 29th, 2005 by Chris Rankin

Good morning to you! Again, it’s been a while since i last posted, but there’s good reasons for this… I’ve been working! Yes, working! I made some amazing friends up at the Memorabilia convention last weekend, and it’s great! On Tuesday I shot a couple of scenes in a sci-fi project called Explode for Fantom Films… I die after the opening scene - but it’s a laugh - and i had a great time!

I’ve also got a part in a 5person ensemble who have been employed to film a pilot episode for a new satirical comedy series from the writers of Not The Nine O’Clock News and other such legendary shows. If it takes off and gets picked up there could well be a series in it - which would be amazing!

I’ve also got potential to be coming to a few conventions in the states over the next few months… more to come when i’ve confirmed some things this week…

Today, i’m playing a doctor in a film as a favour to another friend of mine… busy busy busy!!

Stay tuned!
